Unit type groups
Overview
You can create groups that you can assign unit types to. These groups are added to your customer booking portal.
This allows you to consolidate your unit types into categories that you define, providing your customers a more structured list and booking flow. Unit type groups can be particularly helpful if you offer a wide range of unit types, preventing the need for your customers to scroll through one long list.
Creating a unit type group
To create a unit type group, navigate to the Details tab of your site in the management portal and scroll down to the Unit type groups section.
Click on the blue + button to create a unit type group. In the window that opens, you will enter the following information:
- Title
- Subtitle
- Code
- Order
Title
The name of the group, or category, that displays in your customer booking portal.
Subtitle
The brief description of the group that displays underneath the group button when selected.
Code
The code will display in the URL path as a user selects between different unit type groups.
Order
This determines the order in which the groups are listed. For example, enter 1 to have this group listed first after the All button. 2 will be next, and so on.
Assigning a group to a unit type
To assign a group to a unit type, first navigate to the desired unit type in your site settings. Select the Details tab and click the edit/pencil button under the Unit type details section.
From here you can simply select the desired unit type group from the dropdown list.
By default, all unit types will have the Group setting configured to [None]. This means the unit type will only display in the All group in the customer booking portal, seen below.
Advanced: bulk updating unit types to assign groups
Once you have created your list of unit type groups, you can export this list.
This export will display the id data point for your unit type groups.
When preparing a unit type .csv file, this corresponds to the groupId data point, seen below. This can be used with .csv bulk updates to apply unit type groups to multiple unit types at once.
