Cancelling valet orders that have been started

When a valet order is submitted, it is added to the upcoming jobs list. It can be updated to add/remove items or fix submission errors. It's best to confirm/start the order only when you're about to start working on it (e.g. picking items).

Once 'Start order' is clicked, it cannot be cancelled, and some elements can't be updated anymore. This is a security measure to prevent losing items that have already been added to the order. You can still complete the order by following the guide below.

Just skip steps when possible. Click 'Finish delivery'/'Finish collection' for most steps without marking items as delivered/collected.

Also, remember that whatever happens during an order, the final put-away step allows you to set the correct state of each item, whether it is in storage or with the customer.

Below we'll go through examples for different types of jobs:

Empty box deliveries

For valet orders when you're delivering empty boxes to the customer, simply don't mark any empty boxes as picked, and click Finish picking.  You will be reminded that you haven't picked all the ordered items.  Click OK to continue.

From now on there are no items associated with the order, so you can just skip through the rest of the steps by clicking Finish Delivery, Finish Collection, and Finish put-away.

At this point the job is completed - just remove any unwanted Charges from the job to prevent the charge from being added to the customer's next invoice.

Return deliveries

When you need to pick up a customer's items from storage to deliver them back to them ('return delivery'), the first step will usually be to 'pick' items from storage.  You'll need to select at least one item for this step, so pick any item mark it as 'picked' and then click Finish picking.  You'll be asked to confirm if you want to proceed without picking all items.  Click OK to continue.

Next, on the 'delivery' step, click Cancel delivery and enter a reason such as 'cancelled order'.

In the next 'put away' step, mark the item as in storage as it was before, and click Finish put-away.

At this point the job is completed - just remove any unwanted Charges from the job to prevent the charge from being added to the customer's next invoice.

Collections

When the order is only to collect items from the customer, click Cancel collection. This will complete the order - just remove any unwanted Charges from the job to prevent the charge being added to the customer's next invoice.
