Unit-level bookings
Unit-level bookings allow customers to select and book specific units directly from the customer portal instead of being randomly allocated an available unit in their chosen unit type. Customers can pick the unit that suits them best. For operators, this opens up opportunities to improve margins by adjusting prices based on demand and location.
Below are the steps to set up this feature and how it appears on the customer portal.
Setting up unit-level bookings
To enable unit-level bookings, follow these steps:
1. Set up the sitemap
Make sure your sitemap is set up correctly, before turning on this feature.
Follow the guide here to set up your sitemap here.
Then:
- Navigate to Sites > [Your Site] > Sitemap.
- Use the sitemap editor to create an accurate layout of your storage facility.
- Save your changes once the sitemap is complete.
2. Enable unit booking
- Go to Sites > [Your Site] > Advanced Settings > Advanced.
- Check the box for Enable Unit Booking.
- Click Save to apply your changes.
How it works on the customer portal
Once the unit booking is enabled, the sitemap will display on the customer portal. Here's what happens:
- Customers visit your booking page and select their preferred unit type.
- After selecting the unit type, the sitemap will appear, showing available units.
- Customers can click on a specific unit to view details and proceed with the booking.
- They can also change the preferred unit type from the drop-down button on the top left-hand corner.
As always, this new feature is fully mobile optimised so your customers can select units from the sitemap on the go.
