Troubleshooting admin login issues

Understanding account lockouts for security purposes

At Storeganise, we take data security very seriously. To safeguard your valuable information and maintain system integrity, we implement stringent security measures. One such measure involves locking accounts after a certain number of unsuccessful login attempts. This proactive approach helps prevent unauthorized access attempts, particularly those involving repeated or suspicious password guesses.

Note: Storeganise will not be able to help you regain access due to concerns about potential phishing attempts and related security risks.

Steps to re-enable your account

If your account is locked, you need to re-enable it before logging back in. Follow these steps:

  • Contact a colleague with the necessary privileges and request them to unlock your account and re-enable it via the admin panel.
  • To learn more about how to re-enable an account, please visit the following document: Re-enabling user account.

Note: You may be required to verify your email and follow the necessary steps.

Admin roles and permissions

If your account was locked and re-enabled, any admin roles or permissions will not be automatically restored. It's crucial to ensure roles are deliberately removed for security reasons. Follow these steps:

  • Inform a manager: After your account is re-enabled, inform a manager or a colleague with the necessary rights to reassign roles.
  • Role assignment: The authorized person will manually reassign any admin roles or permissions you had.

Best practices for admin roles

To minimize disruptions and ensure smooth operation within your organization, consider these best practices for managing admin roles:

  • Multiple managers: Ensure more than one person can assign roles and manage user permissions. This redundancy helps in situations where an user's account is locked or when another manager is unavailable.
  • Regular review of access rights: Periodically review who has admin access to ensure only necessary personnel have elevated privileges. This minimizes potential security risks.
  • Use strong, unique passwords: Encourage all users, especially admins, to use strong, unique passwords for their accounts and to change them regularly.
  • Enable two-factor authentication: If available, use two-factor authentication for added security.

Resolving the "Too many attempts" error

If you receive an error about too many login attempts, your account may be temporarily locked for security. Follow the steps above to re-enable your account. This measure protects your account from unauthorized access.
