Changing a move-in date

You can adjust the move-in date during the initial order confirmation and after the order.

It's important to understand the implications and best practices to avoid issues with invoicing and billing cycles.

Initial order confirmation (confirm order step)

Changing the move-in date is easy. When a move-in job is at the confirm order step and a unit is reserved, adjusting the date updates it in the rental details. If the billing mode is anniversary-based, the invoice date will also be updated.

If you have the invoice generated, then go to the draft invoice in the invoice section to adjust the date accordingly on the invoice item list.

For example: If you change the move date from 12 to 11, the invoice date on the rental details should reflect the new move-in date.

Changing the move-in date will also change the date under the unit rental. Managing changes post-invoice generation gets complex as the billed until date won't automatically update. Your choices are: keep the billed until date as is or try deleting the invoice. Note that invoices processed via Stripe payments are non-deletable.

Completion of order (complete order step)

It is not advisable to change move-in dates after order confirmation as it can lead to complications.

While you cannot alter the move-in date on the invoice, you can adjust the invoice date in the rental details. However, changing the move-in date after an order is finalized and the invoice is created may result in inaccuracies and billing problems.

Modifying the move-in date in anniversary billing mode may lead to premature invoicing, resulting in early billing in the next cycle.

Adjusting the move-in date in date-of-month billing mode can disrupt the cycle, causing discrepancies between the invoice and move-in date. Changing the date after payment may complicate refund or additional charge processes, possibly requiring manual intervention.

While invoice items can be adjusted while it's in draft state, editing invoices after payment can be challenging, especially if processed through external payment gateways.
