Setting up custom domains for Storeganise

Content

Overview

This guide will show you how to load the customer booking portal at your company's domain / website addressyourcompany.storeganise.com

Since Storeganise is customer facing, you will probably want to change this to use your own website domain such as www.yourcompany.com

This guide will show you how to load Storeganise at your company's custom domain.

NOTE: In the following examples the text yourcompany  should be replaced with your unique business code. Your business code can be seen in the URL of the Storeganise admin portal, e.g. yourcompany.storeganise.com

Decide on your custom domain

A subdomain is the first part of a domain, for example:

  • In www.storeganise.com , the subdomain is www
  • In my.storeganise.com , the subdomain is my

For businesses without an existing website, this will usually be www.yourcompany.com  and you can use the Storeganise website builder to create the marketing/sales part of your online presence.

If you have an existing website at  www.yourcompany.com  then you will need to decide on a subdomain where customers will go to log into the Customer Portal / create orders. This needs to be in the format of subdomain.yourcompany.com  (it cannot be www.yourcompany.com/subdomain ).

Here are some ideas:

  • my.yourcompany.com
  • booking.yourcompany.com
  • customer.yourcompany.com

Set up your CNAME record

You (or someone from your IT team) will need to setup a CNAME record on your domain's DNS settings (more details will be included in your setup email from us).  This is usually done where your domain was registered, e.g. GoDaddy or similar.

For example, if you want to use the subdomain www.yourcompany.com and your Storeganise Customer Portal is currently at yourcompany.storeganise.com , then you will setup a CNAME record where the host is www and it points to yourcompany.storeganise.com .

Once you have completed the setup, please email us to let us know which subdomain you set up as we need to complete a step on our end before it becomes active.

Detailed guides

Follow the links below to view the help docs on setting up CNAME records for some commonly used domain registration companies. If you are using a different provider, try searching their help docs directly.

Verify your CNAME record is setup correctly

Once you have completed the steps above, you can use this tool to verify that the DNS records have been published correctly. Enter the domain (e.g. www.yourcompany.com or customer.yourcompany.com in the Domain Name box and click on CNAME Lookup.

If you see a green tick with "DNS Records Published" and the "Canonical Name" reflects where your Storeganise Customer Portal is currently (e.g. yourcompany.storeganise.com ), then the setup is correct. If not, please review the steps mentioned above and try again.

Advanced topics

Redirecting 'apex' domains to www

An 'apex' or 'naked' domain is the domain without any subdomain, even the usual www .

We don't support apex domains with Storeganise, so you may want to setup a redirect for your domain, so that users going to https://yourcompany.com get redirected automatically to https://www.yourcompany.com.

How this is done depends on your DNS provider (where you domain is registered) so please see the documentation from your provider or search Google for help on this.

IP addresses

Custom domains on Storeganise do not use IP addresses and we don't have one we can provide you; the custom domain is powered entirely through the CNAME record which is outlined above.
